-
Yes, please submit a new form so your pet's details are up to date.

-
$231.65 for a spay and $197.75 for a neuter, tax included. There is an added fee for a mature spay (a cat who has already had a heat or a litter).
-
The price depends on your dog's weight and whether it's a spay or neuter, so each dog gets a personal quote. Fill out the dog quote form and we'll email you yours.
-
Yes. Every price we quote includes tax.
-
A cone or recovery suit
Optional add-ons, such as vaccines or a microchip
For dogs: calming medication to take home ($40 to $70), and bloodwork if your dog is 6 or older ($150)
Treatment for anything the vet finds on the day, such as ear mites, which they'll discuss with you
-
You pay Broadway Animal Hospital directly when you pick up your pet. They accept cash and credit card.
-
Your pet’s surgery is done by the veterinary team at Broadway Animal Hospital, in their hospital, by their licensed vets. The lower price doesn’t mean lower quality of care.
Dr. Aman Brar and the team at Broadway give us a reduced rate because we’re a registered nonprofit, and we don’t profit from our clinics. Our goal is to make spay and neuter surgery accessible to more families and help reduce the number of unwanted litters.
Is my pet eligible?
-
At least 4 months old and at least 4 pounds. If your kitten is younger, get in touch now and we'll book them for a date after they reach both.
-
No. Cats must not be in heat on the day of surgery. Dogs must not be in heat and need to be at least 5 weeks after their last heat. If you think she's come into heat close to her appointment, email us right away and we'll work out whether she can still go ahead or needs a later date.
-
A spay for a female who has already had a heat or a litter. The surgery takes more time, so there is an added fee. If you're not sure, tell us on the form.
-
We can only book males through our program when both testicles are descended. If one is retained, it's a bigger surgery, so please book directly with Broadway Animal Hospital at 519-940-0899. If you can't tell whether both have dropped, Broadway can check for you.
-
We can't accept exotic cat breeds. Mixed breeds are welcome. If you're not sure about your cat's breed, ask us before booking.
-
Possibly. Your pet must be healthy on surgery day. Tell us about any condition or medication when you book. The vet may ask for your pet's records or bloodwork before going ahead.
-
That's fine. Let the veterinary staff know at drop-off so they can take the right precautions.
-
We serve Caledon and the surrounding area. All surgeries take place at Broadway Animal Hospital in Orangeville, so you'll need to be able to get your pet there for drop-off and pick-up.
Surgery day
-
Broadway Animal Hospital, 328 Broadway, Unit 1, Orangeville. Dr. Aman Brar performs all of our surgeries, and Broadway's team checks you in and cares for your pet. Get directions on Google Maps.
-
Cats on clinic days: between 9:00 and 9:30 am. Dogs: between 9:30 and 10:00 am. If you need to arrive a little later, let us know ahead of time.
-
The same day. The veterinary team will give you a pick-up time at drop-off, usually after 4 pm. The clinic is open until 7 pm, so picking up after work is fine.
-
No food after midnight the night before surgery. Water is fine. A bigger meal before midnight helps them get through the day.
-
No food after 10 pm the night before. They can drink overnight as usual, then take the water bowl away when you get up on surgery morning. Walk your dog before you arrive, and bring them on a secure leash or in a crate.
-
A secure hard-shell carrier is best, because some cats can escape soft ones. If a soft or mesh carrier is all you have and it closes securely, that's OK. Please label the carrier with your cat's name.
-
One cat per carrier is preferred. Two friendly, bonded cats can share.
-
Email us. We may be able to lend you one.
Vaccines and microchips
-
No. Your pet doesn't need any shots beforehand. If you'd like vaccines, they can be done during the same visit.
-
Tell us when you book, and remind the staff at drop-off. Prices include tax.
Microchip, registered with 24Petwatch (cats and dogs): $5
Rabies vaccine (cats and dogs): $30
FVRCP vaccine (cats): $25
Core booster vaccine (dogs): $25
Bloodwork (dogs; required if 6 or older): $150
Dewormer, flea and tick treatment, nail trim, ear-mite treatment: the vet's regular price, ask at drop-off
-
As a nonprofit organization, we provide microchips free of charge to help lost pets find their way home and reduce the number of pets entering shelters when they already have a loving home. The $5 fee covers the veterinarian’s fee to implant and register the microchip.
Even indoor cats can slip outside unexpectedly. A microchip provides a permanent form of identification, giving your pet a better chance of being reunited with you
-
No. It's a tiny ID chip registered to you through 24Petwatch. If your pet is lost and a vet or shelter scans it, your contact details come up so you can be reunited.
-
No. Our reduced rates for vaccines and microchips only apply at the time of surgery.
Dogs
-
Yes, on a case-by-case basis. Fill out the dog quote form for a quote. The price is based on your dog's weight and whether it's a spay or neuter.
-
There is an upper weight limit for dog spays. If your dog is large, tell us their weight on the form and we'll let you know.
-
Only if your dog is 6 or older. Younger dogs can have it as an option. It's done the morning of surgery and costs $150.
-
Yes. The vet can send your dog home with calming medication for about $40 to $70.
-
Call Broadway Animal Hospital directly at 519-940-0899, then let us know.
Aftercare and changes
-
Your pet needs something to stop them licking the incision. A post-surgical recovery suit (from a pet store or Amazon) is our first choice. You can also buy a cone from Broadway Animal Hospital, starting at $15.
-
The vet goes over aftercare with you at pick-up. If you're worried about your pet afterwards, call Broadway Animal Hospital at 519-940-0899. We're not a veterinary clinic, so all health and recovery questions go to Broadway's vets.
-
Please tell us as soon as you know. Appointments are limited, and an early cancellation lets a pet on our waiting list take the spot. For a same-morning emergency, call Broadway Animal Hospital directly at 519-940-0899.
-
Let us know as early as you can. We'll do our best to find you another date, but we can't guarantee one, especially for spays.
-
Our program covers spay and neuter surgery and the add-ons done at the same time. For other care, email us and we'll share any lower-cost options we know of.
Barn cats, TNR and supporting us
-
Yes. We work with barn cats and run TNR (trap-neuter-return) for feral and community cat colonies. Cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, and returned to their home territory. Email us about your situation and we'll work out a plan.
-
One unspayed cat can lead to dozens of kittens in just a few years. Spaying and neutering a colony stops that cycle, and the cats tend to roam, fight and yowl less once they've been fixed.
-
Donations fund surgeries for barn cats, TNR for feral colonies, and families who can't afford regular vet prices. They also cover the costs around that work: traps, carriers, food, vet visits and transportation.
-
You can donate through our Donate page, or see our Take Action page for other ways to get involved.
